Delivering in-depth evaluations to identify flood risks
In Wales, a Flood Consequence Assessment (FCA) is typically required as part of a planning application where a proposed development is identified as being at risk of flooding on the Flood Map for Planning (FMfP). An FCA assesses the potential risks and consequences of flooding and demonstrates how these can be appropriately managed over the lifetime of the development.
In England, a Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) is required for sites located in Flood Zones 2 or 3, as well as for sites in Flood Zone 1 that are larger than 1 hectare or have critical drainage issues recognised by the Environment Agency. An FRA assesses the potential risks of flooding to and from the development and demonstrates how these risks can be appropriately managed.
