Matt is a Fellow of The Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE) and Institute of Structural Engineering (IStructE) who has gained significant engineering experience in a broad range of project locally and across the UK. Matt’s practical experience combined with a positive, problem-solving attitude and personal approach to his clients are key values that has enables the company to grow organically over the years. Under Matt’s leadership Vale Consultancy has established itself with an enviable reputation and has now developed a talented team of engineers.
Jon Mathias

Jon is a highly experienced Structural Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in Engineering Consultancy. He has designed numerous projects, both large and small up to the value of £10 million. Jon’s experience ranges from small housing developments, to large multi-storey mixed use projects including developing bespoke structural designs for private developers. He is associated with the BRE and other innovative specialized projects and also worked closely with the design development, coordination and detailing of many governments building contracts, including the HMPS and HMCS throughout Wales and the South East of the UK.
Chris Danielsen

Director at Vale Consultancy and Chartered Structural Engineer, Chris leads our team on complex and innovative civil and structural engineering projects. Chris is an expert in building structures, the refurbishment and renovation of existing and historic buildings, and heavy industrial and specialist structures for a wide range of industries including materials recycling, mining and chemical processing.
Chris’ key specialisms include the structural design and detailing of buildings and industrial facilities, bespoke projects ranging from domestic to large-scale mixed use developments across commercial, industrial, sports and leisure, transport, education, healthcare, and residential sectors. Chris has comprehensive expertise with all traditional construction materials, including steel, concrete, timber, glass, and masonry, and is highly skilled in the production and independent auditing of complex 3D structural analyses, including architectural steelwork and lightweight framing solutions.
Chris is responsible for key accounts with clients such as the BBC, INEOS, NHS University Health Boards (Wales), NHS Trusts (England), 4Wood, Loyn+Co, Football Association of Wales, WRU, Leekes, Local Government and MOD.

Specialising in domestic and commercial alterations and structural surveys, Nicole delivers efficient solutions and provides precise remedial actions to ensure structural integrity. Paul Graham

Paul works across all aspects of Civil Engineering with a Masters degree in Civil and Water Engineering. Paul primarily focuses on schemes that are led with Sustainable Drainage and assists clients across the private and public sector achieve SAB approval and all other legal approvals in order to implement drainage schemes. Paul has experience all the way from pre planning all the way up to construction. As well as drainage, Paul also works on highways schemes including S38 and S278 schemes on both small developments as well as larger trunk road schemes.

Jack works in civil engineering with a background in sustainable drainage and has attained a degree in Civil Engineering. Following working in civil engineering design consultancies for 5 years following graduation, Jack then joined the SuDS Approval Body (SAB) in Rhondda Cynon Taf Council for a period of 5 years, in which Jack approved/refused over 150 SAB applications on a wide variation of sites. Jack has good experience in the use of MicroDrainage design software, 3D site modelling and AutoCAD.

Richard works as a Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer and has attained a degree (BSc) in Marine Geography and a degree (MSc) in Renewable Energy and Resource Management from Cardiff University. He is focused on flood risk and drainage; assisting clients and developers with Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies in support of planning applications. Richard also has good experience with GIS software including ArcMap, Global Mapper and QGIS. Richard also has experience working as a hydrologist, in previous roles. Richard also has experience working on SAB Applications and foul water treatment and disposal design.
